Philadelphia: Henry F. Anners, Chestnut Street; Printed by King & Baird, 1845. Duodecimo, 140 pages. Frontispiece. First edition under this title. One of a number of works of fiction by the popular Philadelphia cookbook author, Eliza Leslie. Between 1828 and 1857, she published nine cookery books. This collection includes the short story, "The Boarding School Feast" which depicts a school for young ladies which, against type, the children were given cakes and tarts "made in such a manner as to be agreeable to the taste without endangering the health; and they were every day allowed some sort of fruit, of the best quality the market could furnish". The stories were originally included in Atlantic Tales, published in 1833. Owner's ink inscription to front fly; some foxing and age-toning throughout, otherwise very good, in original blind- and gilt-stamped green cloth. [OCLC locates ten copies; not in Wright I].
