The self-wrapper hs been taped on the binding edge and across the front, with text still readable underneath. Light soil, offsetting, chips, smaller tape repairs and tears on other pages. Cover lithograph by Sarony, Major and Knapp shows five black Union and Zouave recruits. Lyrics refer to the Fire Zou Zous, or Fire Zouaves, with a page of alternate lyrics as sung by Bryant's Minstrels about Johnny Bull, referring to England's efforts to aid the South.
