Group of 20 Pennsylvania domestic letters 1860-1880
Claysville, PA, 1880. Letter. Good +. A group of 20 letters dating from 1860 to 1880. 18 of the letters are dated between 1864-1865. The letters from Claysville, Pa are addressed to "Dear Sister Bell." No full name signed at the end to the letters. No envelopes present. An extra two page letter with no date, name etc. in the grouping. The most recent letter is addressed from "West Alexander Pa June 11th/80 Tuesday Eve Mrs. Bell Me M Vance? "My Dear Aunt Bell...." The oldest letter is dated January 1860. A couple of letters are from Tradelphia, Ohio County (West Virginia). The majority of letters are 4 pages long and come in varied paper sizes with several folds. Contents appear to be mainly domestic news discussing sickness, religion and some are "political" in nature (i.e. Union and Government.) These letters have not been transcribed. Some of the content is faded and difficult to read.
