The Last Will and Testament of George Washington of Mount Vernon.
1926. · Washington:
by Washington, George.
Pamphlet, 8vo, original printed wrappers, portrait of Washington frontispiece, 65 pp. Spine frayed and wrappers almost detached, some chips and folds of wrappers, a little creasing, first few pages, including title are torn in the lower margin, last page with a small piece missing affecting two letters, rubber stamp at bottom of front wrapper; otherwise in good condition. This pamphlet shows how George Washington wanted his estate used. He had a particular interest in the education of American youth, who he felt were often forced to go abroad to be educated. He dedicated the shares he owned in the Potomac Company to be used as an endowment of a university within the limits of the District of Columbia. The work also gives a breakdown of Washington's assets and where they were located. (Inventory #: 106359)
