Helen Wise Molony was the daughter of Rabbi Isaac Wise and Therese Bloch Wise. Her parents had met when he was Therese's tutor in Bohemia where they were married in 1846. After moving to Cincinnati, Rabbi Wise was the leading figure in the establishment of Reform Judaism and the Hebrew Union College. The short biography of her mother Therese is a dedicated account of her mother's life who was known for her knowledge of the healing art as well as her hospitality that reached across cultural borders. Dedication at rear: "This volume is dedicated to the memory of a sainted Mother in Israel, a peerless woman of sublime virtues, a spouse of matchless affection, a parent of angelic benignity."
