A few small flecks to cloth sizing, slight cracking to front inner hinge, tiny fray at crown of spine, otherwise very good and bright. Third edition, adding three stories to the text first published in 1891 and reprinted by Stone & Kimball in 1894. Inscribed and signed by the author on the leaf following the dedication: "'Main-Travelled Roads' was written during the autumn of 1887 and was my first book. 'Prairie Folks' its companion piece was written at the same time or soon after, Hamlin Garland Phil. Dec. 28/99."
