by Balogh, Rodolphe (photographs), Ladislas de Szabo (text), & Alexandre de Boros (page layout)
Unpaginated (X pp.) introductory text (in French), unpag. (XI pp.) description of plates at rear (also in French), and 100 fine full-page photographic plates presenting a somewhat propagandistic and idealized vision of the Hungarian people in their lives and at work, including many images of smiling sunlit workers in traditional dress, a plethora of foodstuffs, rural life with thriving livestock, etc. 4to. Cloth. Budapest (Office Royal Hongrois du Commerce) n.d. (ca. 1938). The work celebrates traditional rural life in Hungary, with virtually no images of gritty urban existence. Most of the workers appear happy and content and seem to be enjoying the riches of a successful society. The viewer would have no idea of the tumult going on in Europe as World War Two approached. As of June 2014 WorldCat is unable to locate this work in North America. (Inventory #: 47938)
