Hoppner, Reynolds, G. Morland et al., chiefly portraits of young women (some allegorical), with captioned guard sheets; II. 333 pp. accompanying text, containing biographical information, descriptive catalogues of engravings, and lists of exhibitions, indices, illus. throughout with reproductions after works by both artists. Portfolio: plates overall very good, occasional smudges, fore and bottom edges deckled, numbered in pencil at lower right, some guards a bit faded with a few small closed tears. Portfolio vol. full morocco, gilt tooled spine with six raised bands, gilt tooled decorative board edges and turn-ins, marbled endpapers, t.e.g., expertly restored; text vol. cloth with gilt-stamped frontispiece.
