50 black and white prints (each approx. 4 1/4" x 6"), mounted on heavy card stock, showing views in Nagasaki, Kyoto, Tokyo, Kobe, Utsonomiya, Hyogo, etc., showing images of traditional buildings including shrines, residences, bridges, temples, hotels, etc., some views of the bustling harbor at Nagasaki, street scenes, graveyards, and other sights, most likely taken by a German tourist during the early years of the 20th century, with captions in ink on each page. First few mounts with some damage, not affecting images. Oblong 8vo. Orig. dec. lacquer album. N.p. (Japan), n.d. (ca. 1900-1910). A charming album commemorating a journey through the central part of the island nation. Though most likely the work of an amateur photographer, the images are well-composed, carefully arranged, and well-preserved. (Inventory #: 47048)
