This 64-page photobook was published as a souvenir for the 27th National Gymnastic Festival, which was held from May 6-9, 1897 in St. Louis, Mo. The sportive event was held at Exposition Hall and Meramec Highlands, and included excursions to other local sites. The book contains photogravures (pp. 5-25, and 64) and b/w photographic reproductions (pp. 26-63) of buildings and participants in exercises and gymnastic competitions.
