The first graphic novel to win a Pulitzer Prize in 1992. Two volume set housed in a paper over board slipcase. Bound in quarter black cloth over grey paper boards with white lettering. Cover boards are clean with little noticeable wear. Wrapped in pictorial dust jackets that are clean with no tears and little noticeable wear. The spine panel of the dust jacket on Vol 2 is sunned. Interior pages are clean and unmarked. Slipcase is still in the publisher's plastic but cut open to allow the books to be read. Bindings are square and solid. Spiegelman represents Jews as mice and Germans and Poles as cats and pigs. Critics have classified Maus as memoir, biography, history, fiction, autobiography, or a mix of genres.
