"Répertoire de la Majolique Italienne" is a two-volume monograph on Italian Maiolica, the refined, white-glazed pottery of the Italian Renaissance. Manufactured mainly in Urbino, Florence, Sienna, Faenza, Caffaggiolo, Castel-Durante, Deruta and Gubbio, Maiolica was adapted to all objects that were traditionally ceramic, such as dishes, bowls, serving vessels, and jugs of all shapes and sizes. It was also used as a medium for sculpture and sculptural reliefs, as well as floor and ceiling tiles.This work is illustrated with 13 striking color plates (featured in the Text volume), and 1101 examples of Italian Maiolica pieces reproduced in photogravure throughout the 140 pages contained in the Plate volume.One of 1,500 copies of which this is No. 198.Binding partly darkened.
