Department of the Interior Approval Letter attached to U.S. Patent Granting 160 Acres in Oklahoma to Red Leggins (Meserve Standing Bird). Washington: NP, 1917/1918. 2pp. 8 x 10 1/2, 7 x 12 inches. Book condition: Very good. Approval letter is chipped at bottom edge and has a few tiny holes in sides. Paper is yellow with faint discoloration near ribbon. Red embossed seal holding down green ribbon is coming loose at top edge. Carbon copy patent is faded at edges and folds, with verso soiled at folds, and an embossed stamp near top. President Woodrow Wilson's name is printed at the bottom with his signature below. Verso of patent has a State of Oklahoma stamp filled in with ink and an "x" in red and blue pencil. .
