Location, complete. Vol. 1, no. 1, Spring 1963, and vol. 1, no. 2, Summer 1964
by Hess, Thomas B., and Rosenberg, Harold
New York: Longview Foundation, 1963-1964 . 2 vols. Both illustrated and with literary contributions. **No. 1: Cover by Larry Rivers. 98 pp. Stiff card covers. 24 x 21.7 cm. Contributions by Kenneth Koch, Robert Rauschenberg, Kenneth Burke, Saul Steinberg, Marshall McLuhan, Willem de Kooning, Saul Bellow, and others. There are at least two variants of thils issue. One has a blank spine; the other has titling and the date; I assume the blank one has priority, but that is only an educated guess. **No. 2. 98 pp. 24.2 cm square. Saul Bellow, John Ashbery, Adolph Gottlieb, Hans Namuth, Reuben Nakian, Ray Johnson, Esteban Vicenet, Donald Barthelme, and others. Barthelme was the managing editor for both issues. This short-lived magazine was, and remains, influential for any study of Abstract Expressionism, the New York School, and many of the other currents that were springing forth in the early 1960s. A very faint spot on the cover of no. 2 (perhaps the shadow of a price sticker?); otherwise, a fine set with the unprinted spine on no. 1. **Free domestic shipping with direct order.
