WITH: "Enameloid" Sign. 440 x 500 mm, beveled and embossed on front cover with large colour lithograph, with cut-outs for 32 individual paint samples. Reading: The General Advertising Company, [ca. 1910]. First Edition of this counter display trade catalogue and counter advertising sign, providing guides for the colour schemes of stains, varnishes, and paints for finishing Edwardian Era home interiors and exteriors, as well as automobiles. This reference includes numerous samples of Patterson-Sargent Company BPS (Best Paint Sold) house paints available in: Outside Gloss, Inside Flat, Semi-Flat; Veranda floor paint; Barn and Roof paints (including Roof Green, Slate, Red, & Brown); Concrete Coating; Gloss interior paint & Pat-Co., a flat wall finish; several colours of auto and carriage paint; and a line of Monastery Stains for woods. The General Advertising Company that produced the Enameloid Sign was considered the "Tiffanys" of the sign business before World War I. Some age wear to the sign but overall in good condition.
