Frankfort Distilleries, 1936. COBB, Irvin S. IRVIN S. COBB'S OWN RECIPE BOOK. [Louisville & Baltimore: Frankfort Distilleries, 1936]. Small 8vo., printed wraps; 52 pages. First Edition, later printing. This copy has been annotated in pencil by actress Norma Eberhardt when she was 14 years old. On the rear cover Eberhardt writes: "Norma Eberhardt, 185 Oakhurst Rd., Oakhurst, New Jersey, Oct. 8, 1941. Age 12." She has also drawn four images of a young girl on roller skates. On the front cover she has drawn a stick-figure of Hitler (mis-spelled "Hilter") and also draws a Hitler-like moustache on Cobb's image. Also on a front page is written "Buffy's Daddy" (by Eberhardt?), referring to 1950s television actress Buff Cobb, who was not Cobb's daughter but his granddaughter. Eberhardt [1929-2001] began her career as a fashion model then as an actress. She grew up in Oakhurst, NJ and was discovered by a fashion photographer, who noticed her distinctive feature of one brown eye and one blue eye, during the annual Easter Parade in Asbury Park. She co-starred in "Live Fast, Die Young" and dated actor James Dean and comedian Jerry Lewis, eventually marrying French actor Claude Dauphin. An interesting bit ephemera from Eberhardt's teenage years. Very Good (little toning spine area; contents clean & tight). $50.00.
