Very Good. Photograph. A boudoir card of religious art from St. Michael's Cathedral. Light soil and edge wear on mount. Handwritten date of June 18, 1895 on verso. The imprint has the name of R. Alberstone, Scenes in Alaska, Sitka, Alaska. One of Alaska's earliest photographers in the 1880s, Reuben Albertstone owned and operated the Sitka View and Portrait Company in the 1890s. Depicted are the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. The verso of the card has a handwritten note "Icon in Russian Church - now burnt down." The original St. Michael's Cathedral started construction in 1844 and burned in 1966, when it was rebuilt. ; 8 1/2" x 5" . (Inventory #: 012004)
