New York: O. C. Smith. Very Good. Photograph. A rare stereoview from Andrew J. Russell's Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroad photographs. Light soil and edge wear. The verso is printed with a catalog of views from "The Rocky Mountain Series" published by O. C. Smith. The photographer is not listed. Handwritten on blank lines intended for labeling are No. 326, Echo City from Witches Rock, with the number corresponding to the C. P. R. R. Catalog of Russell's work. Russell had a more well-known photograph of Witches Rock, but this view is a closer view of the conglomerate rock, with Echo City mostly behind the rock in the distance. An original negative glass plate from the Oakland Museum of California collection has this same image but a wider field, dated 1869.; 3 1/2" x 7" . (Inventory #: 012022)
