Jane Hancock - Back facing Handmade Paper Doll. c1880s
A 41/2" pencil drawn naive paper doll. Instead of a typical forward facing doll, you see the back view of her body with a profile of her face. Her only costume is cut from a magazine; assume the doll was designed to fit the costume. The reverse of the doll also has the backfacing design. Both the doll and the costume are marked Jane Hancock No. 20 in pencil. c1880s.
