Continues "The Democracy of Clay, Jackson, and Ray Counties are invited to attend. The meeting will be addressed by Col. John F. Philips, the silver-tongued orator of Missouri, and by other eloquent and distinguished gentlemen. By order of Committee of Arrangements. Missouri City, Oct. 2, 1882." The orator was probably John Finis Philips (1834-1919) , a Missouri judge and U. S. Representative who also commanded the 7th Missouri State Militia during the Civil War. ; 18" x 12" .
