Paisley, Scotland: Gleniffer Press, 1985. (12)pp. One of 85 copies. This micro-miniature was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the "Smallest Book in the World" in 1985. The book was printed using offset lithographic methods, with the text area of each page being less than 1 square millimeter, and followed 5 years of testing and development. Bound in cream wrappers, the book is mounted to a display card and enclosed in a clear plastic case. It is accompanied by an uncut sheet (measuring 3/8 by 5/8; 21x10mm) showing the entire text of three copies, housed in a clear plastic case to match the book's. Along with the book and uncut sheet are a certified copy of the Guiness Book of Records Certificate, signed and numbered by the printer, Ian Macdonald, a gilt-edged title card to display with the book in its original envelope, and a letter from the Press listing the supplied items and explaining the process of producing such a tiny book, also in its original envelope. Adhesive staining to plastic cases, certificate a bit wrinkled and worn, else a fine group. (1/16 by 1/16; 1x1mm).
