A handsome example of this 1909 Bibliophile Society offering, limited to 483 copies, printed on handmade Holland paper and complete in 2 volumes. Both volumes tight and VG in their half-vellum over brown boards, with very light scuffing to the panels and mild darkening along the spines. Tasteful former owner armorial bookplates at each front pastedown, otherwise clean as could be internally, with no writing or markings of any kind to the text. Thick octavos, deckled fore and bottom edges, most pages uncut. 2 title pages to volume I (one etched, one engraved), 9 mounted original palladium prints by Herbert W. Gleason (all with their printed tissue guards). Frontispiece portrait of Thoreau etched by W.H.W. Bicknell. (TRUTHFUL LENS #170).
