Folio (10 x 13 1/4") cloth backed pictorial boards, fine in dust wrapper with small piece off of lower corner, some creasing but bright and VG. 1st edition of this striking children's book, written by Duvoisin as well as illustrated by him. The story is told from the train's point of view. Nearly every other page features a large, bright and bold full color lithograph in a folk art style including 16 full page color illustrations, pictorial endpapers and title page plus several half page black and whites. Well printed on good quality paper and more reminiscent of foreign children's books of the era than of those done in the U.S. (Bader p. 271). Nice copies in dust wrapper are scarce.
