[A Century of Progress: article in] Duo Graphic Magazine vol. 3 no. 4
Chicago: The Illinois Commercial Men's Association, 1933. Magazine. 24p., magazine in 10.2x7.5 inch color picture wraps, profuse sepia photography printed by rotogravure on reasonably alkaline newsprint, staplebound. Clean, free of markings and quite sound; a very good copy. Treats entirely of the Fair but with constant intrusion of insurance salesmanship, application blanks inserted fore and aft and doublespread ads within: of note is the very first line of the application: "Name in full? Age? Are you a male white person?"..Persuasions to buy insurance to this fair include mention of train wrecks and hotel fires, but allow that today's applicant is tolerably brave: "Today there will be a far smaller percentage who fear to indulge in the skyride" (as compared to the fearful back in 1893 of the 'giant novel Ferris wheel' of the Columbian).
