(B&W photographs, facsimiles) INSCRIBED ("L'Chaim / To Life") and SIGNED by the author on the title page. Memoir by a German-born Jew who with his parents fled Nazi Germany for Holland, where he then became involved with the Dutch Resistance. "He was finally liberated by the British Army and his fight against the Nazis continued as an intepreter for the Allied Army during its push into Germany. His service resulted in an ultimate triumph when this Jewish teenager experienced a confrontation with the German High Command." (Specifically, he was witness to the suicide-by-cyanide capsule of an SS General.) He later emigrated to the U.S., where he enjoyed a successful career as a stage, film and TV actor.
