[Group of leaflets related to efforts to stop the execution of Gary Graham]
1994·Moraga, CA; Houston, TX
by [Graham, Gary]
Moraga, CA; Houston, TX: Justice for Gary Graham Coalition, 1994. Nine leaflets, all 8.5x11 inches, issued by the Coalition in Houston or a California branch based in Moraga, very good. The fliers include calls to contact Texas authorities to protest, and announcements of support events in the Bay Area. Graham was a 17-year-old Black man sentenced to death for murder, in a case that gained infamy because even after additional evidence became available, he was unable to get a new trial because of Texas laws. (It had emerged that several witnesses to the shooting told police that Graham did not resemble the killer, but Graham's defense had failed to call on them to testify). In 1995 Graham changed his name to Shaka Sankofa. In 2000 Texas put him to death. (Inventory #: 208892)
