Very good album with some tears on the front board. An album compiled by friends for the 14th anniversary of a Michigan couple named Genne and Harry in June of 1961. The album is a combination of biographical sketch coupled with photographs of their children illustrating parts of the story including their wedding and a party with martinis. The text begins with Genne's childhood in Toledo, Ohio before moving to Michigan and provides a photo of a little girl taking ballet lessons. Harry on the other hand was born in Brazil and his family later moved to Michigan to pursue the "American Dream." Of Harry's childhood it reads, "Harry was a good little boy and always did what he was told." Both Genne and Harry went on to pursue higher education. Genne went to Vassar while Harry went to Oberlin. "After graduation Genne worked at General Motors and Harry was an intern. They finally met each other on a blind date and it was love at first sight." Soon after, they were married and after a honeymoon at the Gratiot Inn at Port Huron, Michigan they began their life together. Harry was a doctor with a residency in urology and eventually went into practice in Detroit while Genne continued working for General Motors. Eventually they had two little boys, Ronny and Gregory. They enjoyed a pleasant upper middle class life full of get-togethers, complete with martinis, church, and a happy home life. "We had many gay time together -- theatre guild plays -- our trip to McCormick's Green Canyon -- many happy New Year's parties, etc." The album ends with a poem dedicated to Genne telling her not to worry. An interesting look at a 1960s middle class family in Michigan.
