Leather brittle at hinges and with pieces missing at head/tail of spine. End papers and title page wrinkled with minor dampstaining; lower outer corner of ffep and rfep torn off. Leather lifting from back cover. Ex-libris Rev. Joannis Shanahan (most likely Bishop John Shanahan of the Harrisburg, PA Catholic Diocese, 1899-1916).. Brown mottled leather/boards. 6 raised bands with gilt decoration and lettering. Red speckled page edges. Red/black-lettered title page with bw double-eagle coat-of-arms at bottom of Pars Prima; same title page in black only of Pars Secunda.. (44) + 366; and (32) + 288 pp. Text set in two columns. Giacomo Pignatelli (1625-1698) was an Italian theologian born in the province of Lecce. After moving to Rome, he became an attorney and expert on canon law. Ultimately, he was Prior of the Church of Santa Maria del Pianto, where he spent the rest of his life.
