Cosmopoli: Putaneum, 1711. Original. Hardcover. Good. Clean, tight text but for age toning and/or some foxing to text areas. Covers scuffed, rubbed, and chipped. Leather missing from head/tail of spine. Worm holes on spine and on end papers but not elsewhere. Leather layer peeling from bottom edges of covers. Ex-libris Rev. Joannis Shanahan (most likely Bishop John Shanahan of the Harrisburg, PA Catholic Diocese, 1899-1916).. Brown mottled leather/boards. 5 raised bands with gilt decoration and lettering. (12) + 546 pp. with decorative title page, including small illus. in red at bottom. Text set in two columns. Giacomo Pignatelli (1625-1698) was an Italian theologian born in the province of Lecce. After moving to Rome, he became an attorney and expert on canon law. Ultimately, he was Prior of the Church of Santa Maria del Pianto, where he spent the rest of his life.
