Translated from the original German and augmented by many new illustrations, this edition offers a fine volume from a fine series written by one of the authorities on the subject of Dutch/Netherlandish painting. This particular tome constitutes Volume 3 of the series and focuses on the work of painters Dieric Bouts (1415-1475) and Justus "Joos" van Gent (1410-1480). These are extensively revised and expanded second editions, with a far larger corpus of plates than the original versions. Comments and notes by Nicole Veronee-Verhaegen. Translation by Heinz Norden.
