Eros Unbound: 27 Assemblages (Derived from the Clandestine Legacy of a SOHO Gentleman
first editionOriginal wraps
by Carl Morse
New York: Self-published, 2007. Original wraps. Fine. Very skillfully-rendered artist's book of gay erotica by New York conceptual and performance artist Carl Morse (1934-2008). Published in 2007 in a tiny edition of only 20 copies. This copy, in its ribbon-tied, stapled wrappers, is in immaculate condition. The book consists of 27 plates (each a silver gelatin print on resin-coated stock) and a fold-out insert at the rear pastedown titled "The Last Free Generation of Homosocial Men". All of the plates capture men in various explicit poses and states of bondage and sado-masochism. And yet, there's never a question of how artfully done --or tastefully handled-- the material is. "Eros Unbound" was also "created with the support of fellow artists Richard Howe, Becket Logan, John Malkemes and Frederic Trump" (Inventory #: 13361)
