Inscribed by the author in the year of issue, "For Ed Lee John Steinbeck, 1935" A previous dealer has indicated that the recipient was H. E. Lee, lifelong Salinas resident. "This is the remaining portion of the approximately 1850 sheets sold by Brewer, Warren & Putnam to Robert O. Ballou and by the latter to Covici-Friede."
