Half-title removed from The Alps. Two interesting poems by George Keate (1729-97), the talented 18th century author and painter. The first is on the famous European mountain range. "Keate . . . was one of the earliest writers to admire, without terror, the sublimities of alpine scenery" - Hayward. And the second is his poem on the attraction of ruins. (Inventory #: 27210)
