Self Published. New York, 1910. 8vo, red cloth, 123 pp. Inscribed by the restaurateur to a friend of O. Henry on March 3-4 1911 (A friend of O'Henry will always be more than a friend of mine), with a drawing of a hand and "SHAME" written underneath, and an additional note stating: "This hand was drawn by O. Henry - as we'd sat up until 4 AM talking with 'Joel' at Joel's." A unique copy of Renaldo's (whose name was misspelled on the book) self-published title on evolution. The "SHAME" would have to refer to the date being wrong on the inscription, as O. Henry died in 1910. Spotting to cover, contents very good, good plus condition overall. Joel Renaldo's Café, which as located at 206 West 41st Street near Times Square, was a bohemian fixture in the pre-WWI era. . Good. 1910. First Edition. (Inventory #: 16013)
