Los Angeles: American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, 1957. Original typed membership application for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, dated April 11, 1957, signed by playwright and television writer, Tad Mosel. The project for which the membership is being applied is an episode of “Playhouse 90” entitled “The Playroom” which aired on October 10, 1957 (Season 2, Episode 5) and starred Charles Drake, Mildred Dunnock, Marilyn Erskine, Nina Foch, Patricia Neal, and Tony Randall. Included is the ‘Office Copy’ of the receipt for the application dues which totalled $108.00. Both the application and receipt are in near fine condition with only minor wear. Tad Mosel is best known for his 1961 Tony Award nominated Broadway play, All the Way Home, which was based on the novel by James Agee, for which Colleen Dewhurst won Best Actress. All the Way Home was also presented on television twice - first in 1971 with Joanne Woodward, Richard Kiley, and Pat Hingle, and again in 1981 with Sally Field, William Hurt, and Ned Beatty.
