by WALLIS, John
3 p.l., 28 pp. 8vo, cont. calf (well-rebacked), spine gilt, red morocco lettering piece on spine. Oxford: 1719. First edition of this very scarce posthumously published work. We learn from the Preface that there was considerable debate within the Oxford community regarding keeping St. Matthias's Day on the 24th or 25th of February in leap years. Wallis's text, from a manuscript written in 1684, was published to add support for the 24th as the preferable day. Fine copy. (Inventory #: 93)
