1889. Very Good. Watson, Wingfield. Prophetic Controversy, No. 3 or The Even Balanced by which Isaac Scott, Chancy Loomis, and the Founders of the Reorganization are Weighed and Found Wanting (In Two Chapters). Bay Springs, Michigan: NP, 1889. 44pp. 8vo. Sewn pamphlet with pink final page. Book condition: Very good with a short closed tear and several tiny closed tears in edges of final page. Watson defends Strang against charges of various members of the Reorganized Church, responding in particular to statement of Isaac F. Scott in the December 29, 1888 'Saint's Herald', reprinting attacks on Scott that'd been printed in 1847 in 'Zion's Reveille'. He notes that while Strang could be proved an imposter, this wouldn't substantiate the claims of the Brighamites and Josephites to prophetic authority, and proclaims the church had never spoken openly with any head Strangite about their claims for ""young Joseph [Smith III] to the prophetic authority""..
