signed unbound
1914
by RIBEIRO, Leon (1854 - 1931)
1914. unbound. 1 page, 4.75 x 7.5 inches, no place, no date ("1914 penciled into the bottom right corner), comprising two measures of six double-bar music, intricately written, most likely for piano. The composer has added the word "sostenuto" which is a term in Italian that means sustained. It occasionally implies a slowing of tempo, though more often it refers to a very legato style in which the notes are performed in a sustained manner beyond the normal values. This scarce item is evenly toned with light backing remnants on verso. Very good(-) condition. Iconic Uruguayan composer and pianist who studied with Carmelo Calvo and Luis Sambucetti.
