Toronto/New York: Delilah Communications Ltd. / ATV Music Publications / Bantam Books. Very Good+. 1981. First Edition. Softcover. (in Good slipcase) [both volumes are in nice shape, with just a little spotting on the top edges and minor scuffing to the covers; the slipcase is edgeworn but intact]. Trade PB (B&W photographs) Music and lyrics for 105 Beatles songs, divided between the two volumes, with a whole bunch of interesting front matter in each book. Volume One (1962-1966) features a dedication to John Lennon; Part One of the group's musical history; interviews with Lennon and Bill Harry; reminiscences by film director Richard Lester; an article about Ringo Starr; a filmography and discography; and articles on various topics such as "The Private Pleasures of a Beatles Collector," "The Beatles Instrumentality," and "A Music Publisher's Perspective." Volume Two (1966-1970) includes the second parts of the musical history and the discography; an interview with Paul McCartney; reminiscences of George Martin; an article about George Harrison; and, again, a few pieces on miscellaneous topics, e.g. "Who's Who in Sgt. Pepper's Band." Contributors include Dave Marsh, Lenny Kaye, David Fricke, and Lester Bangs. Although the two volumes can still be found separately, it seems that the slipcased set has become somewhat hard to find. ***Additional shipping charges for this heavy book will apply for non-U.S. customers; please inquire before placing your order.*** .
