Hardcover (Full Leather)
Lyons: Jacques Sacon (for Luc-Antoine Giunta?), 1506. Early Edition. Hardcover (Full Leather). Good Condition. Later but old full unadorned sheep, surface scratches scrapes, spine a little dry but sound and still attractive overall; Giunta device to title. The title and first few leaves mounted, first 13 preliminaries with various paper repairs at the edges, some just touching the text at the edges. Scattered mostly minor foxing and staining, folio CC with a marginal repair, lacking the preliminary signature dd (6 leaves, a table) ends with the printer's mark and colophon on X5 (lacking rear blank at X6). A-A8, B-B6, aa-cc8 (lacking dd), a-z8, A-T8, U-U6, X-X5 (lacking blank at X6). 385ff (of 392).The first Sacon Latin bible. Sacon was active from 1503-1522, printing for himself as well as Koberger, Petit and others - he reproduced the best editions of the day for the Lyonnaise market. Darlow & Moule 6091, Bibliographie Lyonnaise XII 318. Baudrier suggests Sacon printed it for Luc-Antione Giunta which appears more likely than Masch's suggestion (from Darlow & Moule) that it was an attempted forgery, given Sacon's printing of other works for Koberger, Petit and others. Size: Folio. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Religion & Theology; Antiquarian & Rare. Inventory No: 046295.
