Chinese-Exclusion Bill: Speech of Hon. George R. Patterson of Pennsylvania, in the House of Representatives, Saturday, April 5, 1902.
1902. · Washington:
by Patterson, George R.
Pamphlet, 8vo, 7 pp. Some soiling to outer pages, staples rusted, miniscule chip to edge, normal aging; very good. This pamphlet could be taken from today's headlines concerning immigration. Patterson argues in favor of excluding Chinese immigrants to protect American labor. The Chinese had been coming to America from the 1840s, and continued to do so until the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. That ran its course, and Patterson tried again in 1902. This appears to be a rather scarce pamphlet; no copies listed in auction records and only 2 copies located at OCLC. (Inventory #: 106399)
