Hardcover
Hardcover. Very Good. Two volumes. Large quartos. Red and black cloth over boards. Moderate rubbing on boards, clippings toned, a few pieces detached or lacking, very good or better. Two large volumes compiled mostly in the days between the ceasefire and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Compiled by someone in Massachusetts, the albums largely consisting of newspaper headlines and articles dealing with the American troops in Europe, Peace talks, and doings of the doughboys of the 26th Division (of the Massachusetts National Guard), as well as accounts of women who served with or supported the troops in the trenches. Interspersed amongst the clippings are American Red Cross Bulletins and newsletters, pamphlets, programs for liberty loan fundraising shows, and handbills and tickets for troop homecoming ceremonies. The compiler especially seemed interested in dirigibles, and the albums have many articles on dirigibles and on visits of British air ships. Near the end of the second volumes are several articles on the advent of Prohibition. Nice granular overview of the end days of the War.
