Hollywood: Hollywood Rendezvous, 1930. Four-panel menu 5.75x7 inches, drink menu with prices on inner panels, faux blurbs from Stars about Bourbon on rear panel and b&w photo of Ray aka Rae Bourbon with his John Waters 'stache, signed at left of the photo, mild soiling and the name "Marge" in ink on third panel. Ray Bourbon aka Rae Bourbon (when in female drag) was a gay entertainer in the 1930s through 1950s. He claimed at one time to have had a sex-change operation and performed after as Mr. Rae Bourbon in drag. In the late sixties he was convicted of murder and died in a Brownwood, TX hospital while serving a 99 year sentence. This menu is from the late 1930s or early 1940s when he operated his own nightclub on Cahuenga in LA, where a Guinness was thirty cents! The special was a champagne cocktail for sixty cents.
