Text and illustrations by Maudlin. Inscribed by Maudlin on the front free endpage. "For Frank Stein from Bill Maudlin." Above his inscription Maudlin has drawn Joe (some think it's Willie), unshaven with lit butt and helmet. The inscriptee's name stamp is at the top of the page. On the front pastedown in another hand is "Good Luck 'Uncle Doc.'" Beginning board cloth edge toning, slight spine topedge wear, toned text page and offsetting on the front endpages; dustjacket intact but with wear at the folds and spine ends, chipping on the topedges and toning, especially on the spine. Tight copy in Good condition in a Good dustjacket with an archival cover. At twenty-three, Mauldin was the youngest recipient of the Pulitzer Prize which he was awarded for his "Up Front with Mauldin" series of Willie and Joe GI cartoons. Inscribed by Author with Drawing.
