This is a presentation copy to him from another great film director, who was one of the subjects in Garnett's book DIRECTING: LEARN FROM THE MASTERS, published posthumously in 1996. William Wyler was an American film director, considered by many to be second only to John Ford. He directed such beloved classics as "Wuthering Heights," "The Little Foxes," "Mrs. Miniver," "The Best Years of Our Lives," "Roman Holiday," "Ben Hur," "The Children's Hour," and "Funny Girl."
