Few Thoughts for a Young Man: a lecture delivered before the Boston Mercantile Library Association, on its 29th anniversary
by Mann, Horace
Boston: Ticknor, Reed, and Fields, 1850. Original. Softcover. Good. Except for inscription on ffep, free of extraneous marks; light foxing throughout, however, and with front hinge splitting. General shelf/age wear but still a good, readable copy. One leaf torn out - likely the half title.. Small, brown fabric wraps with blind-stamp decoration and gilt lettering. 84 pp. with no illustrations. Two newspaper clippings laid in; one for Little Chicken Souffles a La Regence. 4 x 6 inches. The inscription on the ffep appears to read as: "Presented to Isaac Haines (?) by his friend and schoolmate, Slater B. Roussell, London Grove Rd." London Grove Road is located in West Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania. There are many Haines family members associated with that location historically.
