All edges and corners have moderate wear and have light sunning and soiling. Spine is chipped at top and bottom and has moderate wear. Edges are uneven due to some signatures being shorter than others. Front pastedown has previous bookseller's sticker. Front pastedown and first end paper are soiled and have light foxing. Last end paper has light pencil marginalia. There is light to moderate foxing throughout text block. Frontispiece and six plates are b&w illustrations of scenes from the voyage. The maiden voyage of the "Potomac" was documented by Francis Warriner - their orders were to "make haste to Quallah Battoo", off the coast of Sumatra and to quell the attacks and raiding to trade ships in that region.
