Green cloth hardcover with black stamped title and designs on front cover. Gilt title on spine. Front hinge slightly cracked. Light spotting and shelf wear to the cloth. Frontispiece is toned. Old pencil note written on page 398. Some light edge chips to a few pages. Inscribed by the former Mayor of Atlanta, W. L. Calhoun, to Atlanta author Mrs. Lollie Belle Wylie. Calhoun was the President of the Atlanta Pioneer Citizens Society. Calhoun, born in 1837 in Decatur Georgia, was the son on Atlanta Mayor James Calhoun who surrendered Atlanta to the Union forces during the Civil War. W. L. Calhoun was Captain of Company K of the 42nd Georgia Infantry. He surrendered at Vicksburg in 1863, fought in the Atlanta Campaign, and was wounded at the Battle of Resaca. W. L. Calhoun was elected Mayor of Atlanta in 1879.
