Early Embossed Post Card of Santa with Dolls and Little Girl
n.d. (circa 1890 to 1895)·Made in Germany
Made in Germany: Publisher not named, n.d. (circa 1890 to 1895). A near fine, unused, early embossed post card made in Germany of Santa with dolls on a table with a young girl whispering in his ear. The verso side of the card is not written upon at all. It measures 3 11/16 by 5 1/2 inches. The printed type on the front and rear of the card suggests printing from the mid to late 1800's. Santa's and the young girl's appearance and attire suggests the late 1800's. The notation for the stamp on the verso of the card indicates the placement of a one cent stamp for domestic or two cents for foreign service. The USPS web site indicates that one cent stamps for post cards required from May 12, 1873 to November 2, 1917. The only wear on this post card shows at the lower corners where there is very slight bumping. The colors on the recto of the card remain very bright and clean.
