A Collection of Vintage Hot Rod-Themed Magazines from the Early 1950s (February 1952-September 1954)
first editionOriginal wraps
Los Angeles/Glendale, 1954. Original wraps. Very Good +. A nice collection of 35 magazines from the early 1950s devoted to hot rod culture, particularly in Southern California. All are uniformly digest-sized and all are VG+ or better in their wonderful pictorial wrappers. The collection is bound into 3 separate black masonite binders, which undoubtedly helps to account for the crisp, very sharp condition of the magazines. The breakdown is as follows: "Rod & Custom": Sept. '53-Sept. '54 (missing Oct. '53); "Honk!: Custom Cars/Hot Rods": May '53-Sept. '53; "Hop Up: Custom Hints--How to Paint a Car": Feb.-March '52, Aug.-Nov. '52, Jan.-Feb. '53; and "Car Craft: Custom Cars/Hot Rods" (formerly "Honk!"): Dec. '53-Sept. '54" (Inventory #: 13747)
